I don’t remember receiving a soccer goodie bag when I played on my youth team, but as a parent, I see how a small gift bag can be so impactful for a group of kids or a coach. So I wanted to share with you my top soccer goodie bag ideas:
- Snacks
- Soccer swag
- Self care goodies
- Some colorful stuffing, and a
- Soccer themed party bag
Whether you’re gearing up for a local tournament, catching a flight to a regional or national one, or simply celebrating with an end of the season party, taking the time to put together a simple but thoughtful goodie bag goes a long way in boosting team camaraderie and saying thank you for everything that you’ve done this season. It shows that each member of this soccer team is noticed and is appreciated. It doesn’t matter whether these future stars are 7 or 17. There’s something special about playing for a team where everyone is sporting the same soccer swag.
Kids. Love. Swag.
The other great thing about this list of soccer themed goodie bag ideas is that it can easily be customized to fit either gender and all ages. Sure, the boys may rub eye black all over their bodies and really dig the faux Pit Viper sunglasses and the girls may prefer fruity-scented chapstick or the neon trucker hat, but each gender will secretly (or not so secretly) enjoy being acknowledged by the team and coach. And receiving free food. And swag.
Because every parent (and coach) knows, team mojo develops off the soccer field as much as it develops on the field.

Alright, enough of the fuss. Here are the 5 “S”s of a Fabulous Soccer Goodie Bag:
Soccer Goodie Bag Ideas
1 – Soccer Snacks
My top idea for a Soccer Goodie Bag is something we all love, snacks! The list of youth sport snacks is endless. Some skew healthy, some lean salty or sweet. But you really can’t go wrong with food and drink for kids of any age. For beverages and snacks, a few of our favorites are:
- Prime – It may just be a fad that will die down, but for now, my kids love it. Somehow, the harder the flavor is to find, the more my kids want it. But it does provide electrolytes and those soccer turf fields can be so hot in the late spring and early fall.
- Gatorade/ Powerade– Been around forever, tried and true.
- Liquid IV – These packets are great to bring on the go and take through security. Key for traveling to those regional soccer tournaments.
- Trail mix – Ironically, I didn’t come up with this item but when I asked my kids what foods they liked in a goodie bag this was the first item they mentioned. It surprised me because when I think of trail mix, I think of the traditional walnuts, almonds, cranberries, pepitas, and my kids don’t love nuts or dried fruit. But they love the homemade kind with M&Ms, pretzels, popcorn or variety packs like these where they can swap if they don’t like what’s in their goodie bag.
- Soccer ring pops – These caught my eye when I was on Amazon the other day and I thought they were a perfect idea for this soccer goodie bag
- Z bars or other protein bars – Similar to trail mix, a variety pack is a crowd pleaser for trading and bartering. Cliff bar minis are good too. Both bars are small enough to give kids energy to run around without giving them a cramp. At least that’s what my kids say
- Gum – Similar to Gatorade, HubbaBubba tape has been around since the dawn of time, but the ability to pull off as much as you want is still appealing.
These are my top snack items for any soccer party goodie bag, but there are many other options out there. Just ask your budding soccer star as kids will definitely have opinions on snacks.
2- Soccer Swag
Swag may be #2 on the list of soccer goodie bag ideas but man, it’s a very close second behind food and beverage. Anything with flare or ‘drip’ increases the coolness of the gift, especially for the tween and teen population. Since soccer swag can add up quickly, below are some ideas, listed from less pricey to more pricey.
- Silicone wristband – coming in around $1 per bracelet, these inexpensive items are a great bang for your buck. There are hundreds of options, customizable with various images, sayings, and colors that both girls and boys enjoy wearing. These soccer ball ones are cute for younger players while older players may enjoy motivational sayings more, especially if the child has really grown as a ball player or leader over the course of the season.
- Soccer stickers – While simple in nature, there’s something about being able to peel off a sticker and place it anywhere that is satisfying for kids.
- Matching soccer hats – Customizing swag with names, nicknames, soccer balls or jersey numbers are always a big hit! You can give these to coaches, parents, team moms as well as all the players. And there are so many colors, styles and fonts to choose from that each player is bound to find one that he or she likes. I mean, who doesn’t love a trucker hat?
- Socks – While I know that coaches and refs require all team members to wear the same uniformed socks during the game, off the field, crazy socks are a fun piece of flare. I really like these Tie dye socks for the whole team, but my son prefers louder socks like these snack food socks.
- Faux Pit Viper sunglasses– I know, I officially went off the rails when I transitioned from soccer stickers and silicone bracelets to trucker hats and pit viper sunglasses to round out the goodie bag swag. However, you can’t turn on a baseball, soccer, football, you name it game without seeing professional or college athletes sporting these sunglasses. These items will be a little pricier to buy in bulk for an entire soccer team, but they’re a good idea if you’re looking for a gift for a smaller group.
3 – Self Care for Soccer Players
This last category of soccer goodie bag ideas may seem a little surprising, but it’s good to throw a few items into the bag that serve a real purpose beyond just sustenance or flare. These items are intended to be small but useful, and it’s where you can really go all in with the soccer theme for the team.
- Eye black stick– Ok this may not be strictly part of the soccer theme and you could even argue it goes under swag, not self care, but it does serve a purpose. Just know that kids will use this in heavy doses so one stick may not last long. But it’s fun to use in the meantime. A simple stick like this works just fine.
- Water bottles – In my house, water bottles seem to disappear, break, or leak with regularity so I always love an extra. I really like these soccer theme ones because 1) they’re personalized so no mixing them up at practice 2) have a handle to grab them by 3) don’t have a straw for kids to chew on.
- Chapstick – Seems simple, but similar to water bottles, I never seem to have enough tubes of chapstick in my life. It drives me crazy to see my kids constantly lick their lips because they don’t have a tube handy. I like these simple yet cute ones). Another great option are these because your child can just clip it onto his or her bag and it’s a visual cue to use it.
- Hair ties – Whether your son sports a man bun or long hair like many of the pro soccer players or your daughter just wants to pull her hair back in a ponytail, hair ties are a convenient soccer goodie bag idea. Yes, you can buy simple ones at Target or even the grocery store, but these soccer theme hair ties are a great last minute gift item.
- Travel sunscreen– This final idea may seem boring but it’s so practical. How many times have you told your child to put sunscreen on before leaving the house only to find out later from his burnt face/ arms/ neck that he forgot? Throw one of these in his soccer bag and like the lip balm- visual reminder to use it. The key to this one is it’s less than 3 oz so you can pack it for those out of state tournaments.
Snacks, swag and self care are the 3 key categories for every soccer party goodie bag. The other 2 items are just window dressing. Mix and match, swap in things that your soccer star is really into these days, swap out last season’s old trends. Easy peasy.
4 – Goodie Bag Stuffing
- Colorful tissue paper or cellophane is a simple addition that transforms a small, generic container with stuff in it into a fabulous party goodie bag. And both tissue paper or other stuffing is usually pretty inexpensive and easy to pick up at a drugstore or grocery store.
5 – Small Goodie Bags
- Once you’ve picked out your key items, find some bags that will fit everything and voila! You now have an instant soccer theme goodie bag for the entire team and a party in the making.
- Depending on the size of your goodies, you may want a larger, studier bag. I like these party bags because just like water bottles and lip balm, you can never have enough bags.
Honorable mentions or strong contenders for soccer goodie bag ideas:
- I went down the rabbit hole of soccer hats on Etsy and I love this one. Not for the soccer goodie bags. Just for the mom goodie bag. Understated enough to not stand out at the soccer field but fun enough to wear outside of cheering on your athlete.
- Solo soccer trainer – the main reason they didn’t make the cut is because they’re too big for the bags but they are great for soccer stars who love to train casually at home
- Soccer stress balls – another fidget to add to their collection
